Hurricane Katya!

As alluded to last week, there was a gale starting to blow outside. Well, Monday was ‘blown away’ as hurricane Katya battered the grounds of The Red Door Country House. Tuesday wasn’t much better but at least people could get out and we had a pretty busy lunch. We were delighted to see that there are still a lot of visitors around, especially from the USA.

Wedding Showcase

The weekend was upon us in a flash and the highlight of the weekend was our Wedding Showcase on Saturday. The rooms looked amazing and we got a lot of wedding bookings from the day. Congratulations to Frances and all the team for the effort and hard work. (Check out our Facebook Page for some great photos.)

Earlier in the day all eyes were most definitely on New Zealand and didn’t Ireland do well. Let’s hope they can maintain that level of performance and get to the final…

Once the Showcase ended on Saturday, the team had a short window in order to get the rooms ready for dinner. With all rooms booked it was tight going but we were ready for our first booking at 6pm. They night flew by and the star of the night was certainly The Monkfisk, with vegetable and prawn pilau and a tomato and olive tapenade. Mmmm, Mmmmmm, Mmmm!!!

Sunday Lunch was busy and there was great interest on our TVs, both in the bar and the Boardroom.
Congratulations to The Dubs – they deserve it for that comeback but the performance of the day has to go to Tipperary on winning the Minors, (biased!).

Autumn

As I look out across the Swilly this morning it’s hard to believe that the Summer is gone and Autumn is truly upon us. The leaves are beginning to flutter and fall but the garden is still awash with vibrant colour and the flowers and shrubs are hanging in there.

As ever, change is inevitable and again, we must bid farewell to colleagues heading off to Uni. In particular a big shout goes to Olivia Jones who finished this weekend and we wish her the very best of luck in Liverpool.

The week ahead

We are open for business daily from 12 for lunch and Afternoon Tea and from 6pm Weds-Sun for dinner.

We would be delighted to hear from you so please don’t be shy and leave a comment :)
