The week gone by...

Monday – Thursday

With the kids well and truly settled back at school, The Red Door Country House opened its doors to the Grannies and Grandas out enjoying their ‘freedom’ after a summer with the Grandkids!

Monday saw the launch of our Autumn Lunch Menu which is served Mon- Sat from 12 noon to 6pm alongside our ever-popular Agnes Jones Afternoon Tea Menu. Some changes have been made to the Summer schedule so The House will open for Table d’hôte and A La Carte Dinner from Wednesday – Sunday from 6pm each evening.

Kate's RoomEach day we offer local business people a pre-order service which is available daily from 11am. This has proved successful with many local personnel ringing ahead (074 93 60289)  to maximise the quality time they could have enjoying the views or relaxing in Kate’s room.

The Weekend

The week flew to be truthful and Thursday saw the start of another busy weekend.

The Willow room was booked with a wonderful 80th birthday party. Cathal and the family sure did enjoy their night. The Violet and Scarlet rooms were buzzing and the atmosphere was delightful.

On Friday we were delighted to welcome Claire Hannigan and her guests on the eve of her wedding. The family enjoyed a pre-wedding dinner before their special day which was held in her home town of Malin.

On Saturday we were honoured to host The Inishowen Bar Association who had a seminar in the Boardroom. Most of Inishowen’s top legal experts were ensconced in legal updates and red tape from early morning. Our Boardroom is a perfect venue for such meetings and seminars and I know all were delighted with the facilities, refreshments, lunch and dinner that night.

All three rooms were hopping on Saturday night. We were delighted to have the Farren birthday party in the Scarlet Room and we would like to wish Mrs Farren a very Happy Birthday. With the interconnecting doors ajar, the Willow and Violet room was one large vibrant floor on Saturday night and our diners left very happy indeed.

On Sunday, early morning attention was on the ‘box’ as Ireland took to the field to start their Rugby World Cup Campaign. Let’s hope they improve and that’s all we will say about that. Of course it would be remiss of us not to mention 9/11 and the 10th anniversary. It was one of those days really. Attention was also focussed on the impending weather and talk of the tail end of Hurricane Katia.

All in all, it was another great week. On the staff front we said Farewell to William McDaid who returned to University. Claire was out sunning herself in Turkey – basted no doubt!!! (God that was bad…) And we welcomed our second new team member in a week, Hayley McLaughlin who will also be a great asset to the House.

Weddding Showcase – 17th September

Fire in the barThe wind is blowing a gale outside but we are keeping the fires glowing inside. Our Wedding Showcase is being held on Saturday September 17th from 1-4p.m. and Frances will be available to chat to any couples wishing to tie the knot in style and comfort.

Christmas Brochure

All going well our Christmas Flyer will be ready and we are putting the finishing touches to a new brochure. Please keep an eye on Facebook and the website for speciality evenings in the restaurant. We are hoping to have a Fashion Show soon so we will update you asap.

Have a good week everyone. Stay safe and hope that Hurricane Katia doesn’t leave too much destruction in her path…

Was at The Red Door on Sat past, there was a wedding fayre on and a great buzz about the place, though this did not take away from the 1st class service we received on arrival, staff all lovely and extremely helpful, had the afternoon tea which was delicious, highly recommend it. Open fires burning in the nooks and crannies of the place, very welcoming. Views breathtaking. Couldnt fault any of it, and will certainly go back. Reply
