Father’s Day Eve (Saturday 18th June 2016) brings the very exciting launch of Gentleman’s Tea at The Red Door Country House in Fahan, Co. Donegal! Creative Head Chef Sean Clifford has designed a platter of homemade hearty fare for gentlemen (and ladies!) who don’t fancy finger sandwiches and dainty pastries.
Always looking at new ways to innovate, The Red Door has taken inspiration from London, arguably the Afternoon Tea capital of the world. “Gentleman’s Tea is the latest foodie craze with our UK neighbours, so we thought we could put our own distinctive slant on it and bring it to the North West of Ireland. We’re not aware of anywhere else offering this dining option in the region,” says Head Chef Sean.
The Red Door Country House was one of the first venues in Inishowen to offer traditional Afternoon Tea back in 2010 and it has grown massively in popularity since then. Booking is often required weeks in advance! While it began as somewhat a female-focused event, for baby showers, hen parties and general girlie get-togethers, it is now enjoyed by all. It is hoped that the Gentleman’s Tea will entice even more men for the afternoon dining experience as well as ladies with more savoury than sweet palettes.
